2014 Macksville/Sawtell Challenge
Return Match at Sawtell - Sunday 25th October 2014
Macksville and Sawtell RSL Snooker Clubs contested the second leg of their challenge match at Satell RSL Club.
Both A&B grades played a full round robin for a total of 50 one frame matches which were divided Sawtell 27, Macksville 23 after the frame tally had see-sawed all day between the two clubs. Best players on the day for Macksville were Selwyn Branford and Greg Pickvance, each with a 4/1 record. Best players on the day for Sawtell were Dick Eatough with a 4/1 record and Ray Wilcher with a 5/0 record. Selwyn, Greg, Dick and Ray were awarded $40 each for their achievements. High breaks for the day were recorded by Selwyn Branford with 30 and both Col Fogarty and Ray Wilcher with 35. At the end of the day the perpetual trophy was accepted by Sawtell RSL Snooker Club President, Col Fogarty who alongside Macksville RSL Snooker Club President, Selwyn Branford expressed delight at the high standard of play and the terrific level of sportsmanship and friendship experienced by all throughout the day. A great big thank you and warm round of applause was accorded to Linda Clayton who single handedly organised the draw, scheduled the games and recorded all the scores, which no doubt underpinned the smooth running of the entire day. The Presidents in their closing remarks expressed strong and mutual desire to continue what has become a very popular event. |
